Estonian Police and Border Guard on September 14 denied entry to the country to a senior worker of the Kremlin-funded TV network Russia Today (RT).
Marina Perekrestova, the deputy head of RT’s multimedia department flew to Tallinn on Monday morning by Aeroflot flight from Moscow, but was not allowed to set foot on Estonian soil, ERR reports.
The Estonian Police and Border Guard have not yet released an official reasoning as to why the RT employee was refused entry.
The Russian Embassy in Tallinn has announced Russian diplomats would request an explanation from the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
RT is a Russian state-funded television network and internet content provider for audiences outside the Russian Federation.
The outlet is widely considered in Baltics and the West a tool of Russian soft power and a Kremlin’s mouthpiece.
